Prepare for Battle!  Day 7 ~ Helmet of Salvation

Weekly Manna for Memory

Ephesians 6:10-13

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Additional verses if you’d like a memorization challenge 🙂 …

Ephesians 6:14-18

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Take the Helmet of Salvation

Romans 10:9

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Salvation is the ultimate protection from the evil one.

If you do not have salvation, if you have not accepted Jesus’ sacrifice for you on the cross and decided to serve Him with your life, then I would urge you to read The Christian Faith – Why Does it Matter?.

God longs for us all to receive salvation. He would love for all of us to join Him in heaven for all eternity. And that salvation is found ONLY in Jesus (Acts 4:12).

Jesus died to cleanse us all from sin…no matter the sin…. In fact, He loves each of us so much, He died for us while we were still sinners, while we may have been outright hating him (Romans 5:8).

Isn’t that amazing?

What wonderful news for we who are so weak so very often and neglect to give Jesus His rightful place as Lord of our lives. He didn’t die for us because we were sinless…He died for us because we need it.

We need His salvation because we were created to be in a relationship with God. God wants us back. He wants us to turn from our sinful ways and choose to love and follow Him.

So, let’s put on the helmet of salvation for our battle against the evil one. Without it, we are most vulnerable.

Without it, our loved ones are most vulnerable. Keep them in your urgent prayers!

Dear Jesus, thank you so much for Your salvation. Thank You for Your great sacrifice of torture, pain and death on a cross. It’s amazing that You did it out of love for ME! So that I can overcome evil in this life and live with You in glory someday! I can never repay You for that! I pray that You would help me to work out my salvation each day and never forget what You have done for me. I pray for my loved ones that do not know You as their Savior. I ask that You would draw them to You. For those who have strayed, I pray that You would bring them back to Yourself so that they, too, would fall under the protection of Your salvation. Amen.

Meal of Manna

Take some time to meditate and journal about 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11.

Then spend some time in prayer for those you know that have not yet put on the helmet of salvation. God does not want anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9)!

Take-Away for Today

Is there someone in your life that God has been urging you to speak to regarding salvation? If so, spend some time in renewed prayer for that person, consider what it is God might be calling you to do and prayerfully step out in faith. Their eternity may depend on your courage. God will give you the words (or the listening ear…whatever is needed).
